Etter flere år med systematisk arbeid klarte vi ved hjelp av Mikkel Aaland å få Leo Laporte og TWiT.TV til Kristiansund og Nordic Light. Sammen med sin medvert Catherine Hall ble det laget intervju med noen av de største navnene på årets festival. TWiT.TV har omtalt Nordic Light i mange av sine programmer over flere uker. TWiT har over fem millioner seere hver uke. Dette er en av de største markedsføringene av Kristiansund noen sinne. Her er første sending. Den neste kommer førstkommende tirsdag.

En av mine lideskaper som fotograf er å fotografere under forhold der det nærmest er umulig å ta et godt bilde. Lokale helter på pub er et et eksempel. Jeg har kanskje en time på meg før det er så mange mennesker med en halvliter i hånda, at det nærmer seg risikosport å bevege seg rundt. Lyset er helt umulig sett fra en fotografs ståsted. Det er det som gjør det morsomt. Her er bandet Tight-P fra Kristiansund som har gjenopstått etter mange år. Disse gutta raidet danselokalene på Nordmøre på 80 tallet.

Nordic Light Festival is thrilled to announce the participation of the Emmy Award winning technology broadcaster and guru Leo Laporte and a team from the TWiT TV network who will report live to an international audience from the Nordic Light Festival. Tune into TWiT.tv on your web browser.

Kristiansund, Norway April 14, 2012. It is spring in Norway and once again the coastal fishing town of Kristiansund turns into a photographer’s paradise. The Nordic Light International Festival of Photography opens on April 24, 2012 and runs through April 28th.

The festival attracts top photographers from all over the world who generously share their work and experiences with participants who also come from all over the world.

A partial list of this years participants includes: Bruce Davidson, Mary Ellen Mark and Martin Bell, Greg Gorman, Gilbert Garcin, James Mollison, Robert Pledge, Kirsten Klein, Chris Rainier, Peter Gerdehag, Farzana Wahidy, Pål Hermansen, Bjørn Opsahl, Stuart Franklin, Abe Frajndlich, Mikkel Aaland, and Catherine Hall.

Past participants include: James Nachtwey, Alex Webb, Giorgio Fiorio, Sarah Moon, Don McCullin, Bruce Gilden, Bruce Barnbaum, William Klein, Michael Kenna, Joel-Peter Witkin, Stauart Franklin, Anton Corbijn, Elliott Erwitt, Marc Riboud, Albert Watson, Lucien Clergue, Vee Speers, Deborah Turbeville, and Bill Atkinson.

“The word ‘photograph’ means to draw or write with light and the Nordic Light Festival is very much about light,” explains artistic director and photographer, Morten Krogvold. He compares the quality of light in Kristiansund with that of Venice, another coastal location where artists have long found inspiration.

In 2006, when Nordic Light started, visitorship numbered 12,000. Last year, in 2011, the number increased to a staggering 90,000.

“The festival is for all photography lovers, whether you just like photography or are a hard-core enthusiast”, says Krogvold. “Our festival is on it’s way to becoming once of the largest photo festivals in the world, but more important to us, it is the best! Welcome!”
